Harlequin is another of the collectible Homer Laughlin Company dinnerwares. It is very similar to Fiesta in many ways, mainly in color and concentric rings. Harlequin's concentric rings are 1" from the edge of each piece, and there are no rings in the center. A distinct Art Deco touch is evident in most pieces with their angular handles and triangular shapes.

Most of the Harlequin colors are the same as Fiesta, but Harlequin was also produced in mauve, maroon, and teal. Today Harlequin it is as popular with many collectors as is Fiesta, even though it is more difficult to find in mint condition because it is thinner and more susceptible to chips and cracks.

New Pattern Found

This new pattern should be attributed to the recently published book Homer Laughlin China-Guide to Shapes and Patterns by Jo Cunningham and Darlene Nossaman.

Nossaman describes the pattern developed in the 1980s as a Harlequin Ironstone which was called Tablefair, a white with oatmeal like color.

A  plain version (no decoration) plus two decal decorations are shown in the book. The two detailed are a  strawberry decoration and with yellow flowers and a yellow edge stripe. There are likely more patterns not yet discovered.
